Prayer Shawls

Prayer shawls are an important ministry at All Saints and we are extremely grateful for those kind enough to make the shawls and pray for their recipients.  As no two people are the same neither are the prayer shawls!  When the shawls are being made we ask the person creating them to please pray for peace, love, comfort and for healing in the persons life they are making them for (even though the recipient of the shawl is usually unknown at the time the shawl is created).

We welcome any colour, material, or style of shawl however we have included a suggestion for anyone wishing to use it.
The first shawl was made with 3 balls of Bernat Satin yarn (3.5 oz each) and 6 mm needles.

Cast on 63 stitches. Knit three purl three across the row, going back do the same, knit three purl three. That is all there is to it. The first shawl measured 13-1/2 inches wide by 52 inches long.  You can add a fringe of 7 inches hand knotted on each end of the shawl in complimentary colours or just leave them without a fringe. The first shawl used a cotton yarn for the fringe.

The knitter is to pray for peace and comfort for the person who receives the shawl. As a suggestion you can pray for healing, faith, hope, joy, peace and love.
